Gorgeous and rare vintage 1970s dress. I've handled lots of cool 70s Indian cottons, but this is my first solid black one. All the typical details we love to see, including pockets and the optional matching belt you use for fitting. PLUS, butterflies!

Tagged a M and I'd say suits modern XS to roomy M; please allow room for fit/ease!

Bust (underarm area measured flat, then doubled) most to about 38" 

Waist unfitted/use belt if you like

Hips full/about 52"

Shoulder to hem about 43" 

Shoulders seam to seam about 13" but fit my 16" dress form fine -- your shoulders are meant to protrude past into the billowing sleeves

Sleeves about 24"

♛Condition

Overall great vintage shape. Cleaned and perfectly worn in, metallics are unfaded. 50+ years old.

The elastic in the cuffs is shot, as is almost always the case with these after so many decades. I prefer it loose and bell-sleeved like this, but you could certainly replace the elastic with new if you want a bishop type fitted cuff.

All the neck ties are present and intact; one does not have the gold metal threads on its dangly ball.
