Details

1950s designer black wool princess coat to ring in the new year in the best way possible. DOUBLE princess seams for the most beautifully femme sculpted look!

Faceted jet glass buttons + bound buttonholes, mega-wide shiny black belt, pockets, and an extra-extra-EXTRA lavish sweeping skirt set with velvet inserts in every pleat going all the way 'round. Plus a surprise ice pastel blue taffeta lining, a high quality detail you’ll only find in true vintage.

This is a heavy, luxurious, Lilli Ann-quality piece, but without the LA price. A great splurge piece for your own wardrobe or gift for a treasured loved one.

Note: I found similar examples ca. 1951 - 1953 from the same company. Wide "patent" belts apparently were included with some styles. Also amazing worn without belt (photo #5).

Condition

Great vintage condition, presents beautifully. Cleaned and freshened, unfaded black hues. 60+ years old.

A few nitpicks that aren't noticeable during wear and display:

With the voluminous skirt spread apart and searched carefully, I found a tiny, shallow scrape to the wool finish (not a hole) down near the hem next to a velvet panel. One pinpoint-sized dimple to the wool surface on a hip, also not a hole. The blue taffeta lining has scattered traces of violet age fade and a few small, faint spots, but nothing noticed at a glance.

Coat weighs just under 6 lbs unpacked, exactly like my Lilli Ann princess coat.
