Vintage ca. 1950s “A Margaret Newman Original” cotton pique princess-seamed sundress with halter/stole-effect neckline, short bones in rear bodice, ginormous guipure daisy appliques, and a Pellon-lined, perfectly structured skirt. Blue polished cotton swags meet in the rear and are crowned with a perfect bow. Over-the-top in the best ways possible.

♛Measurements

About a modern size Small. Fabric allowances + darts allow tailoring somewhat larger or smaller. Has "give" to fabric when pulled very tight wherever noted.

Bust (underarm area measured flat across, then doubled) to about 34" and has some extra room in the curved, seamed bust cups

Waist about  26"/tight 27"

Hips full

Shoulder to hem about 42" + 1"

♛Condition

Great vintage shape. Rear zipper works; shoulders were too broad on my dress form to close zipper to the top safely. 

Dress reads to the eye as bright-white and fresh, just like the photos. However, while photographing under bright studio lights, I found a very faint fingertip-sized hint of age toning at side waist seam and a pinhead-sized dot of it low down on a flower appliqué. I couldn’t make this out in normal indoor lighting, but thought it worth mention. 

Extra note: dress was cleaned but not soaked due to its Pellon skirt lining.
