Vintage 1940s to 1950s Suit - Rare! Spectacular Auburn Spice Rayon Velour w Brass Clasps Jacket + Pencil Skirt Size XS to S

Vintage 1940s to 1950s (early 50s, would be my guess) sporty velour cropped jacket and elegant high-waisted skirt in the prettiest spicy auburn hue. The jacket closes with ingenious brass clasps, each one of them working perfectly.

Dagger collar, turnback winged/notched cuffs, the perfect high-waisted pencil skirt with pockets. Wear together, wear apart; each piece easily earns its own keep as a fab separate.

Very rare style! Looks like the work of Bonnie Cashin, but unfortunately has no remaining labels to help identify; priced on its own clear merits.

Closures: brass clasps, old plastic button, rear metal "Queen" zipper

About a modern size XS to S; please allow room for ease and the kind of fit you prefer. Interior darts + fabric allowances for tailoring somewhat larger or smaller. Some "give" to fabric when pulled very tight, wherever noted.

Bust (underarm area measured flat across front, then doubled) to about 40" slack to 44" pulled tight (batwing cut, drapes to fit)

Waist of jacket (measured across front and doubled) about 26" 

Length of jacket, shoulder to hem about 17 1/2"

Shoulders suit about 16" - 17"

Sleeves about 17"

Waist skirt about 25"/tight 25 1/2" and has about 1" extra play on the tab to move button slightly and fudge a little larger

Hips fullish, to about 42"/tight 44" (~10" down from waist)

Length of skirt about 32" and has 1" hem

Great vintage shape. Clasps are working perfectly; pretty brass patina.
