Beautiful vintage 1940s chocolate gabardine wool suit with padded shoulders, flattering princess seams, carved rootbeer Bakelite buttons, and beaded lotuses with prong-set rhinestones + faux pearls!

I couldn’t find out much about its label (“Stratford’s California), but it was found alongside labels as important as Fred A. Block -- the high-end quality is definitely there.

About a modern size S to small-waisted M; please allow room for ease and the kind of fit you prefer. Interior darts + fabric allowances for tailoring somewhat larger or smaller. Some "give" to fabric when pulled very tight, wherever noted.

Bust (underarm area measured flat across front, then doubled) to about 38"/39"

Waist of jacket (measured across front and doubled) about 29" 

Length of jacket, shoulder to hem about 24"

Shoulders suit about 15" - 16"

Sleeves about 24"

Waist skirt about 26" and has about 1 1/4" of extra play on the tab to move button and fudge a little larger

Hips to about 40" (~10" down from waist)

Length of skirt about 31 1/2" and has 2" hem

♛Condition

Great vintage shape overall, presents crisply and impeccably. Clean lining.

Nitpicks: a couple wee shallow scrapes to the textile's finish on outer edge of a sleeve and outer edge of skirt. You have to go over suit with the proverbial fine-toothed comb and turn fabric this way and that under a strong direct light to see what I mean. Hardly worth mention, but I do like to be precise.
