Details

Scarce ca. 1940s vintage jumpsuit with a striking ruched one-shoulder bodice, fitted waist, and classic extra wide legs. Slinky-soft satin brocade featuring flowers and heart-shaped leaves, cool to the touch. Great for special events, and would be spectacular as wedding- or going-away-wear for unconventionally fashionable folks.

•Fabric(s): satin brocade, cool to touch (I think it's rayon mimicking silk), bodice is lined in white

•Closures: a variety of tiny metal side hooks along a side placket

•Designer/Labels: no

All accessories (belts, jewelry, crinolines, pins, etc.) are for style inspiration only unless indicated.

Measurements

About a modern XS; please allow room for ease and the kind of fit you prefer. Note: this one has lots of potential to be altered larger -- featuring a full 2" of fabric allowance down one side of bodice interior and another 5 darts and allowances that could be utilized. It's so worth the effort!

Bust (underarm area measured flat, then doubled) to about 34"

Waist about 25"

Hips full/about 44"

Shoulder of bodice to waist seam about 16"

Legs about 37" long along outseam and 24" along inseam (note extra-long rise characteristic of era); has extra 2" hem turned up at cuffs

Rise about 16 1/4"

Armhole opening circumference about 17"

Condition

Great vintage shape overall. 75+ years old.

Subtle discoloration along the very rim of one underarm, shown in the side view of photos; covered by arm during wear. Opposite side, there is similar discoloration, but it's tucked on the inside of bodice, where it is not seen during use. Photos are shown from all angles so you can see.

There's a single TINY-TINY tan speckle low down on the side seam of one leg nearish the cuff and an even tinier/fainter ghost of one on inseam. I had to really go over this jumpsuit's fabric and scrutinize closely to find those things; they are not noticed during wear. Presents as bright and fresh.
