Vintage ca. early 1940s dress is smart + sophisticated in a soft woven wool crepe by Samuel Grossman, featuring elegant belled and cuffed sleevess, fitted asymmetrical bodice w pointed double-button closure w besom buttonholes, echoed in the chevron-shaped button accent to side hip. Gorgeous coral pink (similar to the hue used in lingerie of the era!) with bold, oversized custom gold metal buttons.

Fits like modern size S; please allow room for ease and the kind of fit you prefer. Interior fabric allowances to allow tailoring larger or smaller. There is give as noted.

Bust (underarm area measured flat, then doubled) about 38", 39" stretched more taut

Waist to about 26" slack/26 1/2" pulled tight unbelted

Hips to about 38" slack/40" tight (~10" down from waist seam)

Center shoulder to waist seam about 15 1/2"

Shoulder to hem about 39" + about 1 3/4" hem

Sleeves about 19"/bracelet

Shoulders should suit about 16"

Armhole opening circumference about 18"

♛Condition

Great overall with only minor signs of its age, bright and crisp. 85+ years old.

A few tiny imperfections. Sesame seed-sized hole at the rear shoulder area, backed by the label sewn into interior neckline so doesn't actually go through to skin, hidden by many hairstyles. 3 pinprick scrapes up near shoulder tuck/pleat. Scrape at one rear cuff, and a faint little spot nearby at rear hip. Please examine photos, as always -- the impression remains fresh and sharp.
